Former World No. 1 Simona Halep will face Amanda Anisimova in the 2022 Wimbledon quarter finals on Wednesday, July 6.
Simona Halep and Amanda Anisimova will face off in the 2022 Wimbledon quarter finals on Wednesday, July 6. Halep leads 2-1. They last met a few weeks ago at WTA Bad Homburg, when the Romanian advanced to the semis with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. After what appears to be a lengthy wait due to her struggles with injuries and health, former world number one and current World No. 18 Simona Halep is back to playing the sort of tennis that propelled her to the top a few years ago. Halep is currently 30-8 with quarterfinal or better results in six events, including semi-final appearances at Birmingham and Bad Homburg.
The way things have turned out for Amanda Anisimova will please the 20-year-old. She was in a difficult group with players like Serena Williams, Karolina Pliskova, and Coco Gauff since she was seeded 20. Anisimova managed to survive less dangerous players like Yuan Yue, Lauren Davis, and Harmony Tan, thus things turned out fairly nicely for her. She did face Gauff, but she won 6-7(4), 6-2, and 6-1. Despite the fact that Anisimova has a chance, Halep is the clear favorite in this match. Those who like underdogs could support her only to be safe.
Simona Halep v Amanda Anisimova are scheduled to face each other on Wednesday, July 6 in the quarter final round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championship is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There were a number of exciting matches on July 6 as the likes of Rybakina, Tomljanovic and others will be in action.
