Jabeur, who was involved in the final of Wimbledon earlier this year, beat Australia's Ajla Tomljanovic in the quarter-final.
Two of the most in-form players in world women’s tennis today, Caroline Garcia and Ons Jabeur, will take on each other in what promises to be a blockbuster clash in the semi-final of the 2022 US Open. Jabeur, who was involved in the final of Wimbledon earlier this year, beat Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic in the quarter-final by a score of 6-4, 7-6 (7-4). It was the Tunsian’s 43rd win of the year, putting her only behind world no. 1 Iga Swiatek. “I believe in myself after Wimbledon,” she said in her on-court interview. “I know that I have it in me to win a (major) final. And here I am in the semifinals.” The Tunisian let her frustration show at some points in the match but at the end, she was the one standing tall with a place in the semis.
It has been a dream US Open for France’s Caroline Garcia. The 17th seed has been playing like the best in the world for quite a while now and her latest success came against 12th seed Coco Gauff in the qurter-final. Garcia beat Gauff 6-3, 6-4 to make it to her maiden major semi-final. “It was a very intense match,” Garcia said. “Every point, every game was really tough. The atmosphere was really American with a lot of energy out there. I’m just very happy with the performance today, to manage the emotion in my game.”
Ons Jabeur and Caroline Garcia are scheduled to face one another in the semi-final of the US Open 2022 on Friday, September 9. The 2022 US Open is all set to begin from August 29 till September 11.
