After capturing his second ATP championship in Florence last week, Felix Auger Aliassime must have heaved a sigh of relief. He did not compete against anyone from his class the entire week and easily defeated John Jeffrey Wolf in the match that decided the championship. The gifted Canadian would gain the self-assurance and belief he needs to continue and reach his full potential on the main circuit with each title win at this level. Between 2019 and 2021, he dropped eight straight championship matches (all in straight sets) before winning the trophy at this level in Rotterdam earlier this year.

In the opening round of ATP Antwerp, Manuel Guinard upset fellow countryman and lucky loser Geoffrey Blancaneaux in three sets. He had previously won QR1 against Filip Horansky and QR2 against the underdog Jesper De Jong. With victories over lucky loser Michael Mmoh in Lyon earlier this year and Francisco Cerundolo in Gijon only last week, the Frenchman enters this match with a 1-1 record in second-round contests on the main tour.
