Second seed Varvara Gracheva will kick off her 2022 WTA Chennai Open campaign against Mariia Tkacheva. Gracheva has not had the best of times of late, exiting early in every tournament she has take part in. Her latest competition was the prestigious 2022 US Open where she was beaten in the first round 4-6, 6-7 (3-7) by Petra Martic. Ahead of that, Gracheva had taken part in the Tennis in the Land competition and there was also eliminated in the first round by American tennis player Madison Brengle by a score of 3-6, 6-4, 5-7.

Mariia Tkacheva last took part in the ITF Kazakhstan 07A where she reached the round of 16. She was then defeated 5-7, 1-6 by Darya Shauha. Before that, Tkacheva took part in the ITF Kazakhstan 06A where she went as far as the last eight. However, she was then beaten by Japanese tennis player Moyuka Uchijima 1-6, 2-6.

Varvara Gracheva and Mariia Tkacheva are scheduled to face each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 WTA Chennai Open on Tuesday, September 13. The tournament is scheduled to begin on September 12 and end on September 18.

WTA Chennai Open 2022 Schedule

The 2022 WTA Chennai Open is scheduled to commence on September 12 and go on until September 18 this year. The tournament will have five rounds of play excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.
