Second seeded qualifier Daniel Galan will take on Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi in their third qualifying match ahead of the 2022 US Open. The Colombian, who went as far as the third round of Wimbledon, defeated Max Purcell in his second qualifying match. It was a simple victory as Galan closed the deal in straight sets. The score at the end of the match was 7-6 (8-6), 6-4. Galan smashed five aces in the match and converted one break point. He also recorded win percentages of 87% and 76% on the first and second serves respectively.
21-year-old Matteo Arnaldi was victorious against France’s Gilles Simon in his second qualifying match by a score of 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. The Italian recorded three aces and converted seven out of 17 break points. Arnaldo also recorded 69% and 49% on the first and second serves respectively.
Daniel Galan and Matteo Arnaldi are scheduled to face one another in their third qualifying match on Friday, August 26 at 9:45 pm IST.
