Taylor Fritz and Gilles Simon will take on one another in the second round of the 2022 Paris Masters on Wednesday, November 2.
Gilles Simon triumphs over former world number one Andy Murray for the third match in 19 attempts in what is expected to be his final professional tournament. He looked defeated at one point in the second set, but the Parisian audience rallied to help him accomplish a spectacular comeback triumph, 4-6 7-5 6-3. “I’m relieved to receive this one because Andy (Murray) damaged my career. Sixteen loses against him, about a season’s worth. Every Grand Slam R16, Masters 1000 QF, and even a final… I expected him to wreck it to the very end, but not tonight “The old Frenchman laughed.
Taylor Fritz needs to win the Paris Masters title in order to qualify for the ATP Finals, and his performance against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the first round won’t get him very far. He trailed 2-4 in the first set and served only once in the second, 7-5 6-2. Over the previous 14 months or so, the reigning ATP Tokyo winner has improved his play and results in major competitions. He reached the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters last November and won his first major title in Indian Wells earlier this year, defeating Rafael Nadal in the final.
Taylor Fritz and Gilles Simon are scheduled to take on one another in the second round of the 2022 Paris Masters on Wednesday, November 2. The tournament is scheduled to be held from October 31 to November 6, 2022.
The ATP Paris Masters 2022 will have five rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 31, 2022 and conclude on November 6, 2022.
