Federico Coria’s form doesn’t seem to improve

Spanish tennis player Bernabe Zapata Miralles secured a comfortable victory over Argentina’s Federico Coria to advance to the round of 16. The result itself might not have been a shock but the manner of Miralles victory was definitely unexpected. The Spaniard won the tie 6-4, 6-3 in what perhaps should have been more of a challenge for him. Coria has not been in the best of form so far this season and perhaps that played on his confidence on Monday as he failed to any kind of a significant impact on the match.

The biggest upset of the day was arguably Pablo Andujar’s loss against Portugal’s Nuno Borges. It might have been a walkover victory but the way the match was going, the Spaniard would have lost anyway. Borges, who is playing on his him soil, played some exceptional tennis to win the first set against a much more experienced Andujar 6-4. The Portuguese was up 3-0 in the second set as well before his opponent decided to withdraw from the competition. He will face Tiafoe in the next round, which promises to be an interesting affair.
