Holger Rune and Novak Djokovic will take on one another in the finals of the 2022 Paris Masters on Sunday, November 6.
With a commanding straight-set victory in the semifinal of the Paris Masters, Holger Rune exacts revenge on Felix Auger Aliassime, winning 6-4 6-2. He would be very happy with the outcome because, prior to travelling to Paris, the Canadian was unbeaten in 16 games and had won three titles in back-to-back weeks on indoor hard courts. He had lost this battle in the ATP Basel final last week in straight sets. The lowest-ranked opponent the Dane played presented him with his toughest match of the season. In the first round, he defeated world No. 153 Stan Wawrinka on several occasions, then in the following rounds, he defeated Hubert Hurkacz, Andrey Rublev, Carlos Alcaraz, and Felix Auger Aliassime without losing a set.
Stefanos Tsitsipas was defeated by Novak Djokovic in two of the three sets, but the Serbian still had to endure a tense time in the semifinal match as the Greek held a mini-break advantage in the deciding-set tiebreaker, 6-2 3-6 7-6. The Serbian has consistently excelled at the Masters level, without a question. While no other player has yet accomplished this accomplishment, he went one step further and finished the second lifetime Golden Masters in 2020. He completed the career Golden Masters after winning the Cincinnati Masters championship in 2018.
Holger Rune and Novak Djokovic are scheduled to take on one another in the finals of the 2022 Paris Masters on Sunday, November 6. The tournament is scheduled to be held from October 31 to November 6, 2022.
