Grigor Dimitrov and Thiago Monteiro are scheduled to face one another in the first round of the 2022 ATP Vienna Open on Tuesday, October 25.
Dimitrov reached a personal milestone earlier this year when he became the latest player to reach 350 career wins. He also advanced to the quarter-finals of the Indian Wells tournament and the semi-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters. There hasn’t been much to compare with that in the second half of the season, and he has only won once since Montreal, at the US Open, where he was defeated in the second round by Brandon Nakashima. Following that, he lost in the first round in Sofia and again last week in Stockholm, where he was defeated by Czech Jiri Lehecka.
Two wins on the Challenger tour in recent months have helped Thiago Monteiro reach a new career high ranking, though the fact that they were both on clay gives a clear indication of where his game’s strength lies. On other surfaces, he appears less confident. Since winning the second of those titles in Genoa, Italy, his best result has been a second-round appearance in Gijon, and he lost his opening match last week in Stockholm. Forced to qualify in Vienna, he defeated Serbian Dusan Lajovic and German Oscar Otte to earn a spot against Dimitrov.
Grigor Dimitrov and Thiago Monteiro are scheduled to face one another in the first round of the 2022 ATP Vienna Open on Tuesday, October 25. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 24, 2022 and conclude on October 30, 2022.
The ATP Vienna Open will have five rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 24, 2022 and conclude on October 30, 2022.
