Francisco Cerundolo advanced to the semifinals of the Hamburg Open on Friday by winning his eighth straight match. The Argentine defeated Russia’s Aslan Karatsev in a tight quarterfinal on Friday. The Argentine won his first ATP championship in Bastad last week. After an early break in the second set, Cerundolo was up 1-4. He easily won the first set. However, the Russian bounced back, winning the following five games to force a third set. In the deciding set tiebreak, which Cerundolo won to win the match 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4) in two hours and 27 minutes, Karatsev twice went up a break, but Cerundolo recovered on both occasions. He will be trying to continue his dream run after the victory in the quarterfinal on Friday.
Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti is back in form after ending a four-match losing streak in a thrilling first-round battle against Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic. Building on his victory over the Serb in the first round, where he saved two match points, Musetti overcame Emil Ruusuvuori of Finland 6-4, 7-5 in the second round before continuing his winning streak by defeating Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in straight sets in the quarterfinal. During the one and a half hour match, the 20-year-old, ranked 62 in the world, broke Davidovich Fokina twice in both sets while only being broken once in each of the two sets. Musetti’s season record now stands at 16-16 after the victory, and he will play in his first semifinal of the year.
Lorenzo Musetti and Francisco Cerundolo will take on each other on Saturday July 23 in the semifinal round of the 2022 ATP Hamburg European open. The competition is scheduled to commence on July 18 and conclude on July 24 this year.

The 2022 Hamburg European Open will have five rounds of play both for the ATP and WTA competitors. These are the first round, second round, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The tournament is scheduled to be held from July 18 to July 24, but the qualifiers will commence from July 16 for both the men’s and women’s categories.
