The Canadian Open, also known as the National Bank Open presented by Rogers, is still one of the most prominent tennis tournaments.
The ATP Masters 1000 series event for men will this time be hosted in Montreal from August 8–14. Toronto will be the host city for the women’s tournament, a WTA 1000 event, during the same week. Prior to the US Open, the Canadian Open has been hailed as one of the most high-profile warm-up events. Every year, it has drawn some of the biggest stars in the sport, and this year is no different. Rafael Nadal, a five-time champion, withdrew from the tournament just before it began owing to fitness concerns, dealing a blow to the competition. Due to his lack of a COVID-19 vaccine, four-time champion Novak Djokovic is also not competing since he is unable to enter Canada. Despite this, there are enough well-known athletes at the ATP and WTA events to keep spectators interested throughout the entire week.
The top seed and current champion, Daniil Medvedev, will attempt to successfully defend the championship he earned in 2016. 4 in the world The second seed, Carlos Alcaraz, will be motivated to win after losing his last two finals. Runner-up in 2018 Miami and Stefanos Tsitsipas The top four seeds are completed by runner-up Casper Ruud. The remaining top eight seeds are Andrey Rublev, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Jannik Sinner, and Hubert Hurkacz. On the women’s side, the field is headed by world No. 1 Iga Swiatek. Anett Kontaveit, the No. 2 player in the world, is seeded second and intends to build on her recent success in this competition. The remaining top eight seeds are Maria Sakkari, Paula Badosa, Ons Jabeur, Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula, and Garbine Muguruza, making this a very strong competition.
The 2022 Canadian Open will see six rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These include the round of 64, round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The tournament is scheduled to commence on August 8 and conclude on August 14 this year.
