The ATP Tour 250 tennis competition known as the men’s Swedish Open takes place in July in Bastad, Sweden. The International Swedish Hard Court Championships were the name of the competition when it was first held in 1948. The men’s competition took place on the Grand Prix tennis circuit between 1970 and 1989. South African Eric Sturgess won the first three competitions. Ilie Nastase (1971), Bjorn Borg (1974, 1978-1979), Mats Wilander (1982-1983, 1985), and Rafael Nadal are some more well-known winners (2005). In order to make room for the new hotel under the coastal bleachers, the stadium where the tournament is hosted underwent renovation in 2002.

With a 6-4, 6-1 victory against Pablo Carreno Busta and Joao Sousa on Thursday at the Nordea Open, Italian duo Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini advanced to their seventh tour-level quarterfinal of the year. After 65 minutes, the Italians had won 76 percent (25/33) of their first-serve points and had broken their opponents’ serve five times. The second seeds will face Nikola Cacic and Aleksandr Nedovyesov after their successful run to the title match in Bastad in 2018.
