Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi recorded a comfortable victory over Tseng Chun-hsin in the first round of the Tata Open Maharashtra on Monday. The score at the end of the match was 6-0, 6-3 in the Frenchman’s favour. Bonzi registered two aces and converted four out of five break points. He also recorded win percentages of 88% and 71% on the first and second serves respectively. He will now face a stern test in third seed Emil Ruusuvuori in the second round at Pune.
The second round match will be Ruusuvuori’s first at the Tata Open Maharashtra. The Finn was involved in a doubles match on Monday alongside Diego Hidalgo. Unfortunately, the pair lost to the team of Henry Patten and Julian Cash. Ruusuvuori’s last ATP Tour competition was the Paris Masters where he was eliminated in the qualifying rounds by Geoffrey Blancaneaux.
