Almost winning over 20 matches in a row on the challenger Tour last year, Benjamin Bonzi broke through and into the top 100 without ever taking part in an ATP tournament. He did, however, follow it up on the ATP tour this year, going 30-16 thus far, which is pretty amazing for a player who predominately competed on the Challenger Tour. With the exception of the outdoor hard courts, Bonzi has a winning record on every surface so far. It’s not a coincidence, but he’ll undoubtedly change that in the coming weeks. There is no problem with Bonzi’s ability to play well on concrete, and he also has a very effective serve. His experience, which has primarily been on other surfaces, is the problem. Since Washington will be his first event since the grass season, he’ll finally make it there. He’ll need some time to get used to it, but he should be okay.

Christopher Eubanks has been on the edge of breaking into the top 100 for years, but the American never quite manages it. He frequently comes near, enters a difficult period, and falls in the rankings. His favourite time of the year is typically when he gets to play at home. He will play for a few weeks in North America and have the possibility to go up from his current rating of 153. Hard courts, where he uses his powerful serve, have always been his best surface. His primary weapon is that, and how skillfully he uses it will determine everything. He will play better as a whole the better his serving is. He struggles with confidence, and recently, it hasn’t been very good. He competed in the qualifications in Atlanta and was defeated in three sets by Jack Draper.
