The 2022 Washington Open (called the Citi Open for sponsorship reasons) is a tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. The men’s event will be held for the 53rd time. The women’s tournament is in its tenth year and hasn’t had one since 2019. The competition is a part of the US Open Series leading up to the US Open grand slam in September, the WTA 250 of the 2022 WTA Tour, and the ATP Tour 500 series of the 2022 ATP Tour. From August 1 through August 7, 2022, the Washington Open will be held at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Washington, D.C., in the United States.

The Citi Open is one of the most important competitions of the season as it serves to be the first tournament on the road to the US Open Grand Slam. This year, the top men’s seeds will include the likes of Andrey Rublev, Hubert Hurkacz and Denis Shapovalov. For the women, the likes of Jessica Pegula, Simona Halep and Emma Raducanu are amongst the biggest names participating.

2022 Citi Open schedule

The 2022 Citi Open will see six rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These include the round of 64, round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The tournament is scheduled to commence on August 1 and conclude on August 8 this year.
