For the first time since February 2021, Kimberly Birrell has returned to WTA main draw level thanks to her Protected Ranking. Due to the return of her right elbow injury, which prevented her from playing until this January, the 24-year-old was unable to participate in even one tournament the previous season following Australia. She is about to make her debut appearance in a tour-level main draw outside of her own country.
