Pablo Carreno Busta and Sebastian Baez are scheduled to face each other in the first round of the 2022 ATP Swiss Indoors on October 25.
Pablo Carreno Busta achieved some fantastic results on the summer hardcourt swing a few months ago, including winning the Montreal Masters and reaching the round of 16 at the US Open, but he doesn’t appear to have taken the form and enthusiasm to Europe. Since returning from the United States, the Spaniard has participated in three European competitions, but he has failed to win more than one match in each of them. He lost last week to Miomir Kecmanovic in the quarterfinal in Napoli (R1 bye), Arthur Rinderknech in the quarterfinal in Gijon (R1 bye), and eventual champion Marc-Andrea Huesler in the second round in Sofia (R1 bye).
With a surprising victory over ATP Metz champion Lorenzo Sonego in the opening round of ATP Napoli last week, Sebastian Baez ended his troubling 12-match losing run. He was defeated by Zhizhen Zhang in two breakers in the second round, but he was unable to capitalise on that performance. The Argentinian teenager recently won his first ATP title on his favourite clay in Estoril and has since claimed victories in the main event on both grass and outdoor hardcourts. He will now try to claim his first victory of this kind on indoor hard courts. His two prior victories came at the ATP Next Gen Finals in November of last year. He has only played six matches on the surface so far in his career.
Pablo Carreno Busta and Sebastian Baez are scheduled to take on one another in the first round of the 2022 ATP Swiss Indoors on Tuesday, October 25. The tournament is scheduled to be held from October 23 to October 30, 2022.
The ATP Swiss Indoors will have five rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 24, 2022 and conclude on October 30, 2022.
