Amanda Anisimova pulled off one of the biggest upset in the competition by eliminating Coco Gauff.
She spent just one week in Bad Homburg tournament getting ready for the grass swing there, she lost to Simona Halep in the quarterfinals. However in the 2022 Wimbledon the 20-year-old Amanda Anisimova, who defeated Yuan Yue and Lauren Davis in the earlier rounds, had a very simple route. In the third round of the tournament where she faced Coco Gauff and won the match by 6-7, 2-6, 1-6 in straight sets in 2 hours and 10 minutes. Anisimova did however make 40 unforced errors but made up for them by hitting 27 winners and having a higher first service win percentage. The young American player has now progressed to the fourth round of every significant competition this year.
24-year-old Harmony Tan has displayed remarkable composure over the previous week in The Championships. The Frenchwoman has achieved her best major performance in just her second Wimbledon, as she reached the fourth round in the tournament. Her path, which included victories over Serena Williams, the former world number one, Sara Sorribes Tormo and Katie Boulter, is astounding. Tan absolutely destroyed Boulter in third round by defeating her 6-1, 6-1 without even breaking a sweat. She dominated in the every aspect of the game, meanwhile carrying the momentum for the next round. Anisimova defeated Tan last time when they faced each other in the French open in 2019.
Anisimova and Tan are scheduled to face each other on Monday, July 4 in the fourth round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championships is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There were a number of exciting matches on July 4 as the likes of Anisimova, Badosa, Halep and others will be in action.
