Her stint at Michigan saw her bag two bronze medals in the 2022 NCAA Championships.
After hinting at joining the University of California, Berkeley, Maggie Mac Neil decided to transfer to Louisiana State University. Her contribution to the LSU Lady Tigers included winning her fifth gold medal in the SEC championships. Ending her college phase on a high note, she scored gold in the 50 yard freestyle at the 2023 NCAA Championships.
After a splendid performance at the Canadian trials, Maggie Mac Neil found herself representing her country at the FINA World Junior Swimming Championships 2015 in Singapore. At the Tokyo Olympics 2020, after bagging a silver in the 4×100 m freestyle relay, she narrowly clinched the gold in the 100 m butterfly by a mere 0.05 seconds, marking her as Canada’s first gold medalist in Tokyo. She wrapped up her Olympic campaign with a bronze in the 4×100 m medley relay, and earned the title of “Best Female Athlete of Tokyo 2020”. Her year concluded at the 2021 FINA World Championships in Abu Dhabi, where she set world record in 50m backstroke event.
