Theo Hernandez has officially extended his contract with AC Milan, tying him to the club until 2026, as reported by Footballitalia. The 24-year-old is one of the best full-back’s in the Serie A and is an important player in Stefano Pioli’s side. He is an attack-minded left-back who is impressive both defensively and offensively. His contract extension comes as a good news for Rossoneri fans, as it will ward off interest from clubs following the player.

For weeks it was rumoured that an agreement had been found between the parties and that all that was missing was the signature after weeks of negotiations, and on Friday, it came as Milan managed to get their sixth renewal of the season done.

As announced by Milan, Hernandez has extended his contract until 2026, making him a regular part of the team for four more years. The France international has previously revealed how special it is to work with one of the best full-backs in history, Paolo Maldini.

He will reportedly earn EUR 4 million per season plus EUR 500,000 add-ons, becoming one of the better paid players in the squad.

Hernandez joined Milan in 2019 from Real Madrid, and went on to make 27 appearances for the Rossoneri across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2293 minutes. In that time, he has scored four goals and registered eight assists.

Hernandez, Achraf Hakimi and Robin Gosens are the only defenders to have contributed to at least nine goals in the opening 21 Serie A games in the last 15 years.

Milan are currently placed third in the league standings with 52 points from 24 games, just one point behind leaders Inter Milan, whom they will face in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final fixture on 02 March.
