Squash has been an Asian Games sport since the 1998 edition and has been held at every edition since. When it comes to the number game, Malaysia leads the flock with 26 medals. This includes 11 gold, 6 silver and 9 bronze. Team India occupies the fourth position on the ladder with 13 medals. This includes 1 gold, 3 silver and 9 bronze.
Dipika Pallikal, the reigning doubles world champion will lead the eight-member Indian squash team at the Asian Games 2023. Pallikal won individual bronze at Jakarta 2018 but has not featured in competitive singles since 2019. On the other hand, Joshna Chinappa and Saurav Ghosal are expected to carry the Indian challenge in the women’s and men’s singles respectively. At the last edition of the Asian Games in 2018, Indian squash players returned with one silver and four bronze. Naturally, this time the contingent will aim for the gold medal.
