In diving, athletes leap or plunge into water, executing complex aerial maneuvers from elevated platforms or flexible boards. Originating in the 18th and 19th centuries, the sport gained traction in Sweden and Germany. When it comes to Olympic Games , there are two distinct diving board categories: the springboard and the platform. Diving has been a fixture at the Asian Games since its inaugural event in New Delhi in 1951.

Since then, Diving has witnessed complete dominance from China as the country has claimed a total of a whopping 138 medals, including 80 gold, 55 silver, and 3 bronze medals. Only Japan is the nation who has been able to give some competition to China in this sport, having won 71 medals including 17 gold, 21 silver, and 33 bronze medals. At the Asian Games 2018, held at the the Gelora Bung Karno Aquatic Stadium, Jakarta, Indonesia, China clinched 16 medals, which included 10 gold and 6 silver medals. While, South Korea finished second by winning 5 medals (2 silver and 3 bronze).
