The Southeast Asian Games 2023 or SEA Games 2023 will begin from May 5, 2023 and will run until May 17, 2023. Cambodia is hosting the 32nd edition of the games which will feature 11 Southeast nations. The biennial multi-sport event is the one of the biggest sporting events in Southeast Asia. The decision to have Cambodia host the games was revealed during the SEA Games Federation Council meeting in Singapore, in conjunction with the 2015 Southeast Asian Games. Thong Khon, the President of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, made the announcement.

This will be the first time Cambodia will organize the games, as the third Southeast Asian Peninsular (SEAP) Games in 1963 were canceled due to the country’s political climate. Initially, the event was set to feature 40 sports, but the final count includes 37 sports in total. On March 21, 2023, less than 45 days before the commencement of the 32nd SEA Games, King Norodom Sihamoni ceremoniously ignited the torch using the secret flame and passed it on to the official torch at Angkor Wat, a renowned temple complex in Cambodia.
