The Asian Games, also known as Asiad, is a continental multi-sport event held every fourth year among athletes from all over Asia. The Games were regulated by the Asian Games Federation until 1978. The venue for the first was India in New Delhi. Since 1982, they have been organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), after the breakup of the Asian Games Federation. Asian games have been recognised by the International Olympic Association as the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympics. India has a wide following in various equestrian sports like showjumping, eventing, dressage, endurance and tent pegging. The sport is supported by the Equestrian Federation of India. Out of all the events, eventing is the most popular. In eventing, India has participated in the most Asian Games winning a bronze medal in 2002 & 2006. India has also taken part in four Olympic Games in the past: 1980, 1996, 2000 and 2020. The Equestrian Premier League aims to support the sport in the country.
