Take a look at the events that will play a crucial role in the qualification of athletes for Paris Olympics 2024.
The 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, marked the introduction of Equestrian in the Summer Games. It didn’t return until 1912, but it’s been at every Olympic Games since then. In Equestrian, Men and women compete alongside on an equal level. Dressage, Eventing, and Jumping are the equestrian disciplines competed in the Olympics. Medals are given out in both the individual and team categories for each discipline.
Dressage is a way to train a horse to carry the rider with elegance and ease. The level of training a horse and rider partnership has accomplished together is displayed in dressage competitions. The horses will have to move fluidly in straight lines or circles or sideways or diagonally as requested.
In Show Jumping, the ability of the horse and rider to jump over a series of obstacles inside a riding ring is tested. A predetermined course of 10 to 16 jumps, each up to 6 feet 6 inches (2 meters) high or wide, will be navigated by horses and riders.
The ability and versatility of the horse and the rider is determined during Eventing. It usually involves cross country jumping, dressage, and stadium jumping. In cross-country jumping, the route is made up of both natural and human-made elements.
