Ritu Negi, the captain of the India women’s Kabaddi team will spearhead a 35-member contingent which will be heading into a national camp. This camp is set up to bolster the women’s team ahead of the international tours scheduled to happen in the second half of the year. Star Raiders Pooja and Jyoti have also been picked in the squad. Every player would be competing for fame and honour for a place in the team which has a rich history and tradition.
There are 16 Raiders on the team, three Left Covers and four of each of the following positions: Left Corner, Right Cover, Right Corner, and All-Rounders. The player list was decided based on the recommendations of an expert panel comprising Manpreet Singh, Ashok Shinde, and Randhir Singh Sehrawat. One key element that has been kept in mind while selecting the 35-member squad was to select individuals who could perform well under duress after watching the Nationals.
The national camp promises to be a ruthless cauldron where athletes will battle it out for a place in the India team. It can be gruelling as well as taxing at the same time for each of the athletes who will be part of the camp. Nevertheless, it will be a holistic experience for all the kabaddi players.
