In addition to Iran, India is a serious contender to win the second edition of the Junior Kabaddi World Championships at Urmia, Iran in 2023.
The Junior Kabaddi World Championships 2023 will take place from February 28 to March 4 in Urmia, Iran. The second Junior Kabaddi World Championships will feature sixteen teams split into four groups. Iran, the hosts, will be in Group A. They are also the reigning champion. In the tournament’s final, which was held in 2019, also in Iran, they defeated Kenya 42–22 after going undefeated. India didn’t send a team in the inaugural edition. However, this time, India has sent a team and they are in Group C alongside Bangladesh and Thailand. India’s prime rival, Pakistan, will also be competing and are in Group D of the competition.
Narender Kandola, Jai Bhagwan, Ankush Rathee, and Manjeet Sharma, players who competed in the Pro Kabaddi League, are among the members of the Indian contingent. In addition to Iran, India is a serious contender to win the competition. The group stage games will be played in a round-robin format between the teams. The top two teams from each group will then advance to the quarterfinals, which will take place on March 2. The semi-finals will take place on March 3, followed by the final of the Junior Kabaddi World Championships 2023 on March 4.
