Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh and Chilean flicker Camila Caram have both been appointed as the co-chairs of the FIH Athletes Committee.
In a recent announcement made on 28th March, the FIH has appointed has named Indian goalkeeper P.R. Sreejesh and Chile’s flicker Camila Caram as the co-chairs of the FIH Athletes Committee.
The FIH Athletes Committee is a consultative body that provides recommendations to the FIH Executive Board and other bodies. Moreover, the committee also plays a key role in developing and promoting resources and initiatives for athletes. “Athletes have always been at the centre of all sporting endeavours of the FIH,” FIH President Tayyab Ikram said in a statement.

“When FIH launched its new ‘Empowerment and Engagement’ strategy, the ‘athletes first’ approach was enshrined in its core, further showcasing our commitment towards the welfare and well-being of hockey players worldwide.”
The new FIH Athletes Committee will help in the implementation of the FIH’s ‘Empowerment and Engagement’ strategy, which focuses on empowering the athletes and promoting their well-being. “The Athletes Committee will play a crucial role in the execution of this vision, and I welcome all our hockey athletes that have been appointed to the committee,” Ikram added.

Sreejesh said: “Being part of the athletic committee itself is a great honour for me. Getting in as the co-chair is an added responsibility. I am looking forward to working with Camila, and all the athletic committee members to make hockey better for players everywhere.”
On the other hand, Sreejesh’s co-chair, Camila has also expressed her delight after being appointed in such an important position.
Camila Caram added: “I am very happy and honoured that my fellow colleagues voted me as Co-chair. I will work hard to be the voice of the athletes and have always the channels open for communication.” “I sincerely thank Rogier for everything he did for the athletes during these past years. I will follow his footsteps in the best way I can and look forward to making a great team with PR. Sreejesh.”
