The torrid time for Virat Kohli continued in IPL 2022. The former RCB captain slumped to his third golden duck this season in 11 innings to equal the record for most golden ducks in a IPL season. He has looked lackluster in most part of the season and even though he has changed his batting position it has not quite worked in favour for one of the most feared batters in the world.

Virat Kohli: How did the former RCB captain get out?

Kohli started his IPL 2022 campaign while batting at his ideal position of No.3 but switched as an opener after a horrific run. But that hasn’t helped him much as he got out for a first-ball duck in the match against SRH at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. It was a soft-dismissal as Kohli tried to flick the delivery from J Suchith drifting into his pads and found the fielder at short midwicket.

The former RCB captain turned emotional as he walked into the dressing room with his body language not looking at its best. He was, however, consoled by former India batting coach and RCB head coach Sanjay Bangar inside the dressing room with the videos going viral on social media. It also showed that Bangar and management has faith in him despite his poor run.

Virat Kohli has performed consistently for RCB: Sanjay Bangar

Bangar is not bothered by the poor run of form from Kohli as he believes that the premier batter has delivered consistently for the franchise. “He (Kohli) is somebody who has consistently performed for RCB. Players go through these kinds of rough patches. He started the season really well, nearly hitting the winning runs in Pune, but then you have an odd run-out or the first edge that finds his bat lands in the fielder’s hands,” Sanjay Bangar had pointed out in a post-match interview.

“He is certainly doing everything that is in his control. He is doing his fitness and skills and taking good breaks and not letting the pressure get to him. He has been taking breaks at regular intervals and will continue to do so going forward. Even if you look at the South Africa series, the 80-odd that he scored in one of the Test matches was a fine inning,” Bangar added.
