Rohit Sharma made a bright start to his full-time captaincy stint for the Indian cricket team after taking over the reins from his compatriot Virat Kohli. Under his captaincy, India clean swept the Test series against Sri Lanka besides winning in the limited-overs format over the island nation, New Zealand and the West Indies.

However, the opener, had made his ability as a captain clear since taking over the role from former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting in 2013 for Mumbai Indians. It is under his leadership that the Mumbai-franchise went on to clinch a record-five IPL titles.

Moreover, Rohit Sharma, has led the franchise over 129 matches so far and recorded a win percentage of above 59.

IPL 2022: Rohit Sharma opens up on Sachin Tendulkar’s achievements

However, as a child, Sharma would take inspiration from cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and he still looks up to his prolific career. The Indian and Mumbai Indians captain believes that the records achieved by Tendulkar in his long and successful career will be difficult to break.

“My inspiration has always been Sachin Tendulkar. Since I was, I think eight or nine years I started watching him and what he’s done in his career. When it comes to playing cricket, I don’t think anyone can achieve that. And, over the period of 25 years, he has managed to carry the entire responsibility of the team on his shoulder. It is not easy,” Rohit Sharma said at a recent event.

“So, for me, he is the one and I always followed him as to what he’s done in his career, how he’s carried himself, on and off the field. And the most striking thing about him is his humility towards life, not in just cricket, but he is very humble as a person. After achieving so much, it’s not easy to stay humble, but he’s managed to do so,” he added.

Meanwhile, Sharma-led Mumbai Indians, are still to get off the mark in IPL 2022. They have registered two consecutive losses and will look to open their account against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Wednesday.
