Dhawal Kulkarni has joined Mumbai Indians camp after their star pacers have looked out of touch in IPL 2022.

Five-time champions Mumbai Indians have roped in veteran pacer Dhawal Kulkarni as a back-up option for the Indian Premier League 2022. Kulkarni joins the Mumbai Indians squad at the back of some poor run from their fast bowlers in the tournament. The Mumbai-native will be considered for selection if he does well at the training session. He was, incidentally, a part of the official broadcasters panel for IPL 2022 and has joined the franchise after being approached by them.

Kulkarni was a part of the Mumbai Indians squad from 2008 to 2013. The fast bowler was regular for the franchise in his first stint and featured in over 30 matches. He was later roped in by Rajasthan Royals for the 2014 to 2015 season before featuring for Gujarat Titans in the IPL. The veteran has an overall experience of 92 IPL matches where he has picked up 86 wickets at an average of 28.76 with the best bowling figures of 4/14.
Mumbai Indians pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has looked out of touch in the IPL 2022 as he has picked up only five wickets from eight matches and conceded 229 runs. His compatriots and left-arm pacers — Jaydev Unadkat (six wickets and 190 runs conceded from five matches) and Daniel Sams (six wickets and 209 runs conceded from five matches) — have also shown signs of struggle. Tymal Mills (six wickets and 190 runs conceded from five matches) and Basil Thampi (five wickets and 152 runs conceded from five matches) have been ordinary in the season while Riley Meredith has scalped three wickets in two games.
