David Warner puts up a valiant effort

However, unperturbed by the dismissal, Warner continued to be aggressor of innings and played his natural game to hit four boundaries and five sixes in his stay of 38 deliveries.

Later, his national team compatriot Mitchell Marsh (14), could not add much to the team tally but captain Rishabh Pant (34) put up a valiant effort in his 17-ball stay with three boundaries and two sixes.

Meanwhile, tailenders Shardul Thakur (17), Axar Patel (10 not out) and Kuldeep Yadav (10 not out), chipped in with important cameos to keep the DC Net Run Rate in control.

Josh Hazlewood shines with the ball

Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers for RCB as he returned figures of 3/28 while his fast bowling compatriot Mohammed Siraj scalped two wickets.

Glenn Maxwell holds the fort for RCB

Asked to bat, RCB top-order, Faf du Plessis (8), Anuj Rawat (0) and Virat Kohli (12) were sent packing in quick succession.

Later, incoming batter Suyash Prabhudessai (6), also failed to find the rhythm but Australia all-rounder Maxwell held the fort for RCB with a brilliant batting display. He notched up seven boundaries and two sixes in his 34-ball knock.

Dinesh Karthik remains a finisher beyond MS Dhoni-era

Karthik, meanwhile, continued to show that he is still in business as he made the most of his life after being dropped on five runs by Rishabh Pant off a Kuldeep Yadav delivery.

The veteran wicket keeper-batter invented different variations of scoops and sweeps as he hit five boundaries and as many sixes in his 34-ball unbeaten knock while forging an unbroken stand of 97 runs with Shahbaz Ahmed (32 not out).

Ahmed played a brilliant cameo which was laced with three boundaries and a six.
