However, the in-form South African youngster Dewald Brevis, notched up a 13-ball 31 runs cameo which included six boundaries and one hit over the fence while Suryakumar Yadav (37) displayed his fearless brand of cricket to hold the fort but failed to convert his start.
Yadav hit three boundaries in his 27-ball knock while Tilak Varma (26) scored at a run a ball rate with two boundaries.
West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard, who has been out of touch in the initial matches, later tried to keep MI in chase with a 14-ball 25 runs cameo but failed to take his side over the line. His knock was laced with one boundaries and two hits over the fence.
India fast bowler Avesh Khan was the pick of the bowlers for LSG as he returned figures of 3/30 in his stipulated four overs.
Jason Holder, Dushmantha Chameera, Ravi Bishnoi and Marcus Stoinis, meanwhile, chipped in with one wicket each.
