The 62nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 will be between the high-flying Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) who are already eliminated from the playoff battle. Despite being out of the competition CSK would be eager to finish the season on a high. GT, led by Hardik Pandya, made an immediate impact in their debut season and are eyeing a top-2 finish. One more win might be enough for them to achieve this. They are currently placed at top of the table with 18 points from 12 matches.

CSK had a forgettable IPL 2022 season as they languish at the second-last spot on the table. Despite winning some matches after a string of losses, CSK is finding it hard to find consistency. In a match between the teams at the bottom of the table, CSK lost to Mumbai Indians by five wickets on Thursday. It could turn out to be a difficult task for the Chennai side to win against the in-form GT. However, to achieve that, they would want their key players like Devon Conway, Moeen Ali and Dwayne Bravo to perform well.

CSK vs GT: Let’s take a look at the three-player battles

Shubman Gill vs Mukesh Choudhary

Mukesh Choudhary has shown a lot of promise for CSK. His wicket-taking exploits have been beneficial for the Chennai side. Even in the match against MI on Thursday, Mukesh took three wickets despite ending on the losing side. CSK skipper MS Dhoni has lauded the performances of the pacers and the team will certainly rely on the likes of Mukesh to provide the breakthrough. The contest between the GT opener Shubman Gill and pacer Mukesh Choudhary will be interesting. Shubman scored 63 off 49 balls in the last match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the face-off between the youngsters could prove to be decisive for their respective teams.

Mohammad Shami vs Devon Conway

Devon Conway’s big-hitting has somewhat turned the tide for CSK this season. His return has fueled the Chennai franchise’s win after a string of losses. It won’t be an easy task for the GT bowlers to restrict the opener from New Zealand. However, the experience of a bowler like Mohammad Shami might just be the guy needed for GT to counter the Conway onslaught. This will be a contest to look out for.

Hardik Pandya vs Dwayne Bravo

Hardik Pandya has been on a roll this season for the debutants GT. The captain has led by example and played some crucial knocks for the team. Though Pandya has been struggling to find runs lately, he can return to scoring freely anytime. MS Dhoni can turn to his experienced bowlers to do the job against the GT captain. The veteran CSK player Dwayne Bravo could pull up a trick or two out of his sleeves to surprise Hardik. Bravo has proven useful with the ball this season and this could be another key battle in the match.
