The talks around LSG prodigy Ayush Badoni doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon after his fine display in the maiden IPL season. Badoni, however, failed to live up to his standards as he scored only five runs in a losing cause for LSG against RR in the IPL 2022 contest on Sunday.

However, young Badoni, might well turn out to be the answer to India’s white-ball finisher. At least, after, he has proved to be a handful after his first four games for the LSG and the world has taken notice of it.

Badoni has turned out to be a 360-degree player for LSG, looking fit enough to don the Indian jersey, in white-ball cricket. At a young age of 22, he played the responsible knock of 54, an unbeaten 19, 19 and 10 not out in the IPL 2022, to not only showcase his finishing abilities but his maturity.

“Ayush Badoni is a very confident player and KL (Lokesh Rahul) was spot on with his observation when he said that he is very calm and composed. Watching him play you do not get the feeling that this is his debut IPL season. He has this quality to absorb pressure which is a sign of a big player and a future star,” Harbhajan Singh said on Cricket Live on Star Sports.

“Generally, youngsters get bogged down when they see a big player in front of them. But Badoni was never intimidated by the reputation of the player he was facing and continued to play his shots. He has hit fours and sixes against every big player he’s faced. It shows how good his mind-set is. This also shows that these young cricketers have come with a lot of preparation. Badoni has shown a lot of maturity for a youngster.”

Ayush Badoni has very good temperament: Dhawal Kulkarni

It is quite clear that the LSG management, led by mentor Gautam Gambhir, has backed Badoni as the finisher for their franchise. And ousted India fast bowler Kulkarni noticed that Badoni has the temperament to bat under pressure.

“Ayush has shown very good temperament in his first IPL. In his debut game when he came to bat, his team was under pressure and he slammed a fifty. In the second game, he helped his team chase down a big total under pressure. He has got all the qualities of becoming a big player one day,” Kulkarni said.

His franchise, meanwhile, currently sits at the fifth spot with six points after five outings.
