West Ham United boss David Moyes was full of praise for his team’s performance after they registered a fourth straight Premier League victory, and ended Liverpool’s 25-match unbeaten run in all competitions. The Hammers triumphed 3-2 in a thrilling game at London Stadium. Reds keeper Alisson scored an early own-goal before Trent Alexander-Arnold levelled with a free-kick shortly before half-time. West Ham were not deterred though and scored twice more after the break through Pablo Fornals and Kurt Zouma to ensure Divock Origi’s late reply counted for little.

“Players are outstanding at the moment”

“The players are outstanding at the moment. We want to keep the belief going, we don’t want it to be a small thing we do, we need to keep it going, and there will be times this season when it won’t be quite as good, but why shouldn’t we enjoy it when it is this good We scored a couple of really good goals from set pieces, we scored a counter-attack goal too and I thought our second half performance was really good. Maybe we had chances to score more goals too which we didn’t finish off – the point is we’re getting four or five good opportunities against Liverpool and that must mean we’re doing something right,” said Moyes as quoted by West Ham’s official website.

“Understandably we had to defend too. In the first half we weren’t so good, but we were better in the second half. We still had to defend and when we led 3-2 it was nip and tuck. They missed a good chance to make it three-each, but we’re a good team. The players are good players and I believe we can try to keep it going. When we played here last here we lost 3-1. I watched it back and I didn’t like the way we played. I didn’t like the way we didn’t get enough of the ball and I tried in the first half to find a way where we could do things better or differently. It worked to an extent because we got in front, but we didn’t really do enough and we altered Pablo’s position in the second half a bit, which meant he pressed a little bit faster from the front and that gave us a little bit of impetus,” he added.

“It’s fantastic right now”

Moyes was full of praise for the supporters and also the club for backing him to the core.

“It’s fantastic right now and that’s down to everybody at the Club. We’ve got a great Club, we really have, and we have a Club which I said right at the start that had so much room for improvement and development. That first has to come on the pitch because supporters want to see what’s happening on the pitch. We brought in a few players, which have made a big difference. We’ve got more international players here than we’ve had for a long time and credit has to go to everybody, but let’s be fair, the big one is the players – they’re doing a magnificent job. The staff too, Kev and Nev (assistant coaches Kevin Nolan and Paul Nevin), the boys have helped get another couple in from set pieces again today so it’s great work,” he said.
