Jamshedpur FC boss Owen Coyle felt his side fully deserved the 1-0 win against FC Goa and they worked hard for it. JFC’s new recruit Daniel Chima Chukwu scored the lone goal of the match in Bambolim in the 49th minute to take his team to second in the Indian Super League (ISL) points table. Although FC Goa had the majority of ball possession and created more chances, Jamshedpur FC defense stood firm to secure all three points.

Dinliana delivered a long ball from the right for Chukwu to race into the box and produce a sliding shot that kissed the goalkeeper Naveen Kumar’s gloves as went home. It was the Nigerian footballers fourth goal of the season, first for Jamshedpur.

The 30-year-old forward was instrumental in Jamshedpur’s sixth victory of the season. His pace and physical prowess did the trick for Coyle’s side. Since the departure of Valskis to Chennaiyin FC, Jamshedpur were missing a proper strike partner for Greg stewart. Now, with the arrival of Chukwu, it looks like they have got the right person to play alongside the Scottsman.

Coyle said after the match: “Chima is an outstanding player and always has been. For doubters because he’d only scored two goals for SC East Bengal that he spent goal and I think you’d have to look into games. You don’t have to score goals to contribute to a team. That’s what Daniel Chima does for us, that says his qualities. Chima is a champion, a very good mind. He’s been very humble since he came into the group and his performance was outstanding today.”

We worked hard defensively: Coyle

JFC registered just one shot on target and that turned out to be the winner. The Red Miners sat back and defended deep and hit the opposition on the counter. Goalkeeper TP Rehennesh was the Hero of the match as he managed to keep his third clean sheet of the season.

The English tactician said “we scored the goal, we kept a clean sheet another one which is important. FC Goa had some chances but there’s no doubt given the circumstances we went into the game. We were fully deserving we fully endorse the points today. We worked hard defensively. And when we took the chance we scored”
