After losing back-to-back games against Real Valladolid and Sevilla, Villarreal got back to winning ways against Espanyol last time out. Quique Setien’s side secured all three points against the Catalan outfit courtesy of Etienne Capoue’s brace and one goal each from Dani Parejo and Nicolas Jackson. It was Yellow Submarine’s 15th league-win of the season and they have prevailed in four of their last six outings. As of now, Villarreal are in pole position to secure a Europa League qualification, but with seven games remaining, Yellow Submarine will be aiming to put pressure on fourth-placed Real Sociedad, who are far from comfortable in the final Champions League spot.
Celta Vigo, on the other hand, secured their 10th top flight victory of the season against Elche on Thursday courtesy of Joseph Aidoo’s lone goal in the 90th-minute. The result ended their four game winless streak and helped them close the gap on tenth-placed Girona to just two points. The Sky Blues have achieved a top half finish only once since 2016. Meanwhile, Celta Vigo came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Villarreal in the reverse fixture in January after Gerard Moreno’s early opener was canceled out by Jorgen Larsen mid-way through the second half.
Villarreal probable starting lineup: Reina; Foyth, Mandi, P Torres, A Moreno; Parejo, Capoue; Chukwueze, Lo Celso, Pino; Jackson
Celta Vigo probable starting lineup: Villar, Mallo, Aidoo, Tapia, Galan, Perez, Veiga, Rodriguez, De la Torre, Larsen, Aspas
