It goes without saying that Manchester United have had a below-par start to the new season. The Red Devils have struggled both domestically and in Europe. United are nowhere near the top four positions in the Premier League and have struggled to match the consistency levels they displayed last campaign. The situation is neither better in the Champions League. United have lost both their games in Europe and have a big task at hand to progress from the group stage.

There are many reasons behind this poor run of form for Manchester United. Injuries have undoubtedly played its part, with several players getting treatment on the sidelines. While some have returned, others are still recovering from their injuries. Besides, the new players are yet to get used to the manager’s style of play, with some of the summer signings also sustaining injury setbacks in recent weeks.

Sofyan Amrabat on new season

Sofyan Amrabat is one such new recruit, who took a while to make his debut due to a small injury concern he was carrying with him while joining the club. The 27-year-old has since been a regular with the side, as he gone on to analyse the team’s performances so far in the new season. “I think I can say a lot of things, but I don’t want to use them as an excuse. I think in life, but also in football, it never goes always only good, or top,” he told Premier League Productions, when asked about the club’s start to the new campaign.

He added: “You always have a moment that maybe it will be a little bit difficult, and now I think it’s a bit like that at the moment. But we just started. We still have a very long season, a long way [to go]. I think we have played good games [and had] a lot of positive and good things. Maybe with a bit more luck, we’d have won the games that we didn’t win. So I have a lot of confidence and I think yeah, we work very hard every day. Nobody will give it to you. You have to work for it. But we work very hard and I believe it will be fine. It will be good.”

Amrabat, who joined on loan from Fiorentina, remains confident that with time, the team’s performance and results will improve. “We train a lot, with what the manager asks of us and the way he wants to play. We put a lot of time and energy into that and, like I said, there are a lot of good things. Of course, we are not perfect yet, but I think nobody’s perfect. It needs time. But I think also it’s the results. If the results come, it will be only faster that the confidence will grow. That’s football, it’s like that,” he stated.
