The reverse fixture between these two sides was more than six months ago, and the match ended 1-0 in favour of Watford, thanks to Joao Pedro’s second half effort.
Sheffield United will host Watford in an EFL Championship fixture at Bramall Lane on Saturday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 3-2 defeat away to Millwall last Saturday, while Watford got the better of West Bromwich Albion, with an identical scoreline, on Monday night. Despite the loss, the Blades are still occupying second spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 61 points from 32 games, 12 adrift of the leaders Burnley and four clear of third-placed Middlesbrough. The visitors, meanwhile, have played an extra game, and are sitting five places behind Sheffield, separated by eleven points.

Sheffield have won just one of their last four league-games this month. After thrashing Swansea City 3-0 on February 11, courtesy of goals from Sander Berge, Jack Robinson and Oli McBurnie, the Blades suffered a 3-1 defeat to their closest challengers Middlesbrough, four days later. Last time out, Paul Heckingbottom’s side ended up on the wrong side of the five-goal thriller at The Den. Tom Doyle and James McAtee found the back of the net for Sheffield, but a hat trick from Tom Bradshaw handed the Blades their seventh second tier defeat of the season. Sheffield have recorded 18 wins in the Championship this season, a record only bettered by leaders Burnley, and have enough quality in their ranks to make a final charge and hold on to the automatic qualification spot.
Watford, on the other hand, are level on points with sixth-placed Luton Town, who are holding on to the final playoff spot. The Hornets will be aiming to strengthen their own promotion bid when they travel to Bramall Lane on Saturday. Slaven Bilic’s side are undefeated in their last four outings in the league, while three of those games ended in draws. But last time out, the Hornets got the better of West Brom, thanks to Ken Sema’s brace and one goal from Ismaila Sarr. It was their 13th league-win of the campaign.
The reverse fixture between these two sides this season was more than six months ago, and the match ended 1-0 in favour of Watford, thanks to Joao Pedro’s second half effort. Sheffield have not been able to triumph in the last six encounters against the Hornets, with two of those ending in draws. Saturday’s fixture at Bramall Lane will be the 30th meeting between these two sides, and Watford have a slight advantage in the head-to-head record, with 12 wins to their name, compared to 10 for the Blades.
