Shanghai Shenhua have made a brilliant start to the 2022 CSL campaign, winning five of their opening six games to accumulate 16 points and sit at the second spot in the table.

Shanghai Port will host Shanghai Shenhua in a Chinese Super League Fixture at Jinzhou Stadium on Wednesday. Both sides are heading into the tie on the back of 2-1 wins in their respective last outings. Shanghai Port defeated Wuhan Zall last Saturday while the visitors got the better of Guangzhou a day later. Shanghai Shenhua have made a brilliant start to the 2022 CSL campaign, winning five of their opening six games to accumulate 16 points and sit at the second spot, behind leaders Wuhan Three Towns, separated by only goal difference. Shanghai port on the other hand, occupy 8th position with nine points from three wins.
On Saturday at Puwan Stadium, Shanghai Port took an early lead through Xin Xu but the hosts equalised midway through the second half by Bruno Viana before Cherif Ndiaye netted an 83rd minute winner. The result helped the Red Eagles to make it three wins from their last four games. Ivan Leko’s side began their campaign with two back-to-back defeats against Wuhan Zall and Shanghai Shenhua before getting the better of Hebei CFFC and Guangzhou to get the season back on track and then suffered a narrow 2-1 loss to Wuhan Three Towns.
Shanghai Shenhua, on the other hand, defeated Guangzhou courtesy of goals from Wang Haijian and Cao Yunding. The visitors pulled on back through Wei Shihao, nine minutes from time, but the Flower of Shanghai managed to hold on to the slender lead and secured all three points. It was their third successive victory having gotten the better of Wuhan Zall and Hebei CFFC in their previous games. Ahead of the much awaited top-of-the-table clash against the Wuhan Three Lions four days later, the Flower of Shanghai would be aiming to set the tone nicely with a comprehensive display on Wednesday.
Shanghai Port midfielder Xu Xin, who came off injured in the Wuhan victory is doubtful for the Shanghai Shenhua game. Shiyuan Yang is expected to replace the 28-year-old in the middle of the park. Brazilian striker Paulinho is likely to lead the attack along with Ndiaye and Liu. As for Shanghai Shenhua, Yunding Cao, who has netted in his last three games will be the key player, playing behind the forward line consisting of Christian Bassogog and Zhu.

The Chinese Super League fixture between Shanghai Port and Shanghai Shenhua will take place at the Jinzhou Stadium and it will kickoff at 1:00 pm IST on June 29, Wednesday.
The Chinese Super League matches are televised on different networks in various countries. Last year, Tencent had secured media rights in China for the Chinese Super League (CSL) matches.
