Preston North end will host Rotherham United in an EFL Championship fixture at Deepdale on Tuesday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Luton Town last Saturday, while Rotherham thrashed Reading 4-0 on the same day. Both sides have made decent starts to their league campaign. Preston has managed to register one win and two draws from their opening three league games to sit at the seventh position in the standings, while the visitors, who have played a game less, are one one place behind them, having recorded one win and a draw. 

Preston kicked off their campaign with two goalless draws against Wigan Athletic and Hull City before getting the better of Luton last weekend. Last Saturday, at Kenilworth Road, Brad Potts’ lone goal in the 18th minute was enough to secure Preston’s first league win of the season. Ryan Lowe’s side had managed to keep three clean sheets from as many league games so far and they are proving to be a hard unit to break down. Their defensive solidity has been one of the best in the league so far.

Rotherham on the other hand are very good going forward. Paul Warne’s men are happy to let the opposition have the bulk of the ball possession and rely on quick breakaway moves to get on the scoresheet. In their recent outing against Reading, Richard Wood, Conor Washington, Jamie Lindsay and Chiedozie Ogbene netted for the Millers to secure three points. Prior to that, Paul Warne’s side defeated Pot Vale 2-1 to advance to the second round of the EFL Cup. Oliver Rathbone and Chiedozie Ogbene for the Millers at Vale Park. 

Probable Lineups

Preston defender Bambo Diaby is sidelined with a muscle issue, while Sean Magurie is nursing a knee injury.  Parrott and McCann are likely to form the attacking duo with Potts and Ledson occupying the flanks. Hughes, Lindsay and Storey could form the back-three with Whiteman sitting in front of them in a defensive midfielders position. As for Rotherham, Joshua Kayode and Tom Eaves are nursing muscle and ankle issues respectively. Washington is expected to lead the line alongside Ogbene.
