Preston North End will be looking to end their three-match losing streak in the EFL Championship when they play host to Millwall at Deepdale on Saturday. The home side lost 4-2 away to league-leaders Ipswich Town before the international break on October 7, while the Lions are heading into the match on the back of a 2-2 draw against Hull City. Despite the defeat, the Lilywhites are occupying third spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 20 points from 11 games, ten points adrift of the summit, while the visitors are languishing at the 15th position, with 15 points to their name from 11 outings.

Preston made a strong start to their 2023-24 Championship campaign, taking 20 points from their first eight second tier games. However, since the 1-1 draw away to Rotherham United on September 23, the Invincibles have lost back-to-back games against the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Leicester City and Ipswich, conceding 11 goals and scoring just two in the period. Last time out, PNE twice came from behind to make the score 2-2 thanks to equalisers from Mads Frokjaer-Kensen and Ben Whiteman, but the Tractor Boys eventually prevailed 4-2. Ryan Lowe will feel that the international break came at the right time, but the pressure is growing on the 45-year-old to get his side back to winning ways.
Millwall, on the other hand, are going through bit of a tough time, having parted ways with head coach Gary Rowett earlier this week. The Lions managed to pocket just four points from their last three outings against Swansea City, Plymouth Argyle and Hull. After the disappointing 3-0 defeat away to Swansea towards the end of last month, Millwall secured a comprehensive 2-0 win at Plymouth on October 4 thanks to second-half efforts from Zian Flemming and George Saville. But the Lions couldn’t extend their winning run, sharing the spoils against Hull last time out, despite the fact that Duncan Whatmore and Joe Bryan found the back of the net. Meanwhile, in the absence of a permanent manager, Adam Barrett is taking charge of Saturday’s fixture.
Preston North End probable starting lineup: Woodman, Bauer, Lindsay, Cunningham, Potts, Whiteman, Ledson, Millar, Holmes, Frokjaer-Jensen, Keane
Millwall probable starting lineup: Bialkowski, Norton-Cuffy, Harding, Cooper, Bryan, Leonard, De Norre, Campbell, Flemming, Watmore, Bradshaw
