Pep Guardiola is undoubtedly one of the best coaches of his generation. The Spaniard has enjoyed tremendous amount of success wherever he has managed. It was at Barcelona he rose to fame after winning every possible trophy by playing a beautiful brand of football. He then continued the success at different clubs like Bayern Munich and Manchester City. Notably, Guardiola has created history and broken multiple records during his time in Manchester.

His most impressive time as Manchester City coach arrived last season when they ended the campaign with a historic treble. City had won the Premier League, FA Cup and the long-awaited Champions League trophy. Former City defender Kolo Toure, who has worked as a coach since retiring, only had good words to describe about Pep Guardiola. Toure also explained what he likes the most about the City manager.

“He’s the biggest inspiration. The way he sets his team up tactically, the details he is giving to his players, but at the same time, the motivation to keep them performing game after game at the highest level is incredible. That is the main thing for me. He is demanding of them and to be able to repeat that. To motivate himself, to motivate his players is a skill,” he was quoted as saying by the club’s website.

Pep will keep the players on top: Kolo Toure

Even though Man City’s long wait for Champions League glory is over, Toure is convinced that Guardiola will still keep the players motivated to stay at the top of their game. “Of course now it’s going to be a big challenge because everyone was waiting for the Champions League. It’s here now but I have no doubt that Pep will keep the players on top and up there. At the same time, a few players have left and it’s important that they replaced them well and keep the standard high because they have unbelievable players. Pep has fantastic tools to work with, fantastic players but he makes players better,” Toure stated.

He added: “He pushes them to extra. He pushes them to reach the top level, each of them. When he sees you and he know you can reach that level, he will push you. He will expect them to do a little bit more and that’s what players want. Players who work under him, they always praise him because he pushed them to find extra. I liked it when my manager pushed me to get better because as humans we like to be relaxed and tranquillo. But if you want to be the best you have find that little bit extra and sometimes it’s in yourself and sometimes it’s the manager that can do that. And I think Pep is getting that from each and every player and that’s incredible for me.”
