Chelsea have been one of the busiest sides in the transfer market in recent past. No team in Europe invested as heavily as the Blues in this period. The supporters have seen the arrival of multiple renowned superstars and talented future prospects. However, Chelsea have been unable to make the most of the new signings, as hey endured a disappointing campaign last time around. They have once again invested massively in the recently concluded transfer window in the hope of getting back to their previous best.

Talented young winger Noni Madueke who also joined Chelsea in recent past is happy to have got the chance to show his ability. However, he is also keen to help the Blues reach their previous heights. “You know the blueprint of the club. If they have recruited you to come and join the project it says something about your ability. That’s good to know in the back of your mind,” he was quoted as saying by the club’s website.

He added: “But it’s not just about recruiting talented players. It’s about making a winning team, and that is the next step we have to take this season. Silverware is so important to Chelsea and that is the direction we have to head in for sure. If you look at the squad we have, the depth, we would be doing ourselves a disservice if we thought we couldn’t be right up there.”

Madueke then shifted his attention to manager Mauricio Pochettino and spoke about what kind of manager he is. “He’s tough with me, but I probably need that. He’s transparent as well which is really important, to know where you stand and what he expects from you. He knows when to be really tough with me and when to put an arm around me. I can’t fault him. He’s a really good man manager. He’s created a culture where we are brothers off the pitch. It helps we have a young squad so we are with each other a lot anyway. We are lucky to have him,” he explained.

Lesley Ugochukwu on joining Chelsea

Young midfield talent Lesley Ugochukwu is among the many signings Chelsea made in the recent window. Having already established himself at Ligue 1 side Rennes, Ugochukwu is keen to continue his progress at Stamford Bridge. Speaking about the reason behind joining Chelsea, Ugochukwu said, “Just look at all the trophies they’ve won and the legends that have passed through. I was attracted by what they wanted to do and what they saw in me. They say I can become a great midfielder, if I put in the work and everything goes well. It’s up to me to prove that I can have my place in the long term. I wanted to take this step. When a club of this stature comes in for you, it’s very difficult to refuse.”

Ugochukwu also had his say about his recent experience in the Premier League, one of the popular leagues in world football. “Playing in the Premier League is a childhood dream, especially at Chelsea which is one of the biggest clubs in England and also in the world. Here, whether you play at home or away, people are singing everywhere. You can miss a pass, but if you recover the ball or make a tackle, there will be shouts from all directions. The atmosphere in the stadiums is incredible, the fans support you, they transcend you. It’s the Premier League!” he added.
