Newcastle United to Valentino Livramento: Why did Eddie Howe sign the young full-back from Southampton?

Following Southampton’s relegation last season, Valentino Livramento has joined Newcastle United in this window.

Newcastle United have made an exciting addition in the form of a young talented full-back, Valentino Livramento. Having joined from Southampton, the youngster has put pen to paper on a deal that will last until 2028. Livramento already has Premier League experience. He was part of the Chelsea youth system before leaving to join the Saints and it is at St. Mary’s, he started to turn a few heads with his performances.

Following Southampton’s relegation last season, Valentino Livramento has joined Newcastle United in this window and what a time to make this switch! Newcastle did the impossible last term by finishing fourth in the Premier League table to secure Champions League football. Supporters of the Magpies will be able to witness European football under floodlights at St. James’ Park in the coming season.

With a lot of excitement among the fans of Newcastle, Valentino Livramento was unable to control his joy after joining the Magpies. “I’m really excited to have signed for Newcastle United and I’m looking forward to playing in front of the fans. I was here for the games over the weekend; even though they were friendlies, there were so many fans and they were still so loud so I can’t wait to see what it feels like to play in front of them in a Premier League or Champions League game,” Valentino, also known as Tino, was quoted as saying by the club’s website.

Tino was all praise for Newcastle manager Eddie Howe and his style of play which was lauded by many last season. “The way the manager plays football is really attractive and I feel like it suits me as a player. And with how well the team did last season, the trajectory that we’re on now, I’m just looking forward to being a part of that. And to be able to learn from Kieran Trippier is another big thing for me; hopefully he teaches me how to become a better player and a better full-back,” he added.

Meanwhile, Eddie Howe explained the reason behind Newcastle choosing to go for the young full-back. “Tino is a very talented young player with an exciting future ahead of him so we are delighted to sign him. At 20, he already has lots of attributes that I admire but he also has the potential and drive to really grow with this team. I’m looking forward to working with him and to seeing him develop in a Newcastle shirt,” he elaborated.
