The transfer window is coming to a conclusion, as clubs are scrambling to get their final pieces of business done in the next few days. Most of the teams have already completed their transfer business, however, some sides still have a bit of work left to be done. Manchester United are also far from a finished product. The Red Devils still have a couple of positions need to be filled while the future of few of their players remains unclear.

Erik ten Hag on transfers

Hence, Manchester United supporters are eagerly awaiting to understand what the club will do in the final days of the ongoing transfer window. Manager Erik ten Hag gave an update on the same after their weekend come-from-behind Premier League win over Nottingham Forest. Responding to a question about goalkeeper Dean Henderson’s future, ten Hag, quoted by the club’s website, said, “If that is the case [players will depart the club], then we will bring you news.”

The Red Devils have managed three signings till now in the window. Mason Mount arrived from Chelsea, Andre Onana joined from Inter Milan and Rasmus Hojlund was acquired from Atalanta. “We are prepared well; we are fully in control so if there are transfers, we need to keep the squad competitive because it will be a tough season with many games to cover. In many positions you need double and in the goalkeeping position we need three really good goalkeepers who can all keep the Premier League-standard so we will cover that,” he elaborated.

Erik ten Hag on Nottingham Forest comeback

Erik ten Hag then shifted his focus to the weekend victory over Forest when the Red Devils conceded twice inside the opening four minutes. However, goals from Christian Eriksen, Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes helped Man United stage an impressive comeback. “It was very interesting for me to see how the team responds to this,” he added.

“As a manager, you don’t want this situation but it is very good to have this experience, to see how the team will respond to it. The good thing from such a horror start is that you have a long time to turn it around and so I think that was my feeling. We had some great leaders in the team, we showed that composure to stick to the plan and, from that plan, we played some very good football and we turned it around. So a big compliment to the team.”

The manager also feels the team has good spirit and fight, which he hopes will them going forward. “Absolutely, you see this team is strong. This team has good spirit, a good fight, there’s a lot of energy and that will definitely help us. This is a massive win and it will help us in our belief. You need leadership on the pitch and we stayed composed and stayed controlled. Christian Eriksen was one of them, it was a great finish,” he explained.
