Lyon Women will host Zurich Women in a Women’s Champions League fixture at Parc Olympique Lyonnais on Wednesday evening. Both sides are heading into the match on the back of victories in their respective domestic league fixtures on Saturday. The hosts thrashed Dijon in a Division 1 Feminine match, while Zurcih Women got the better of Rupperswil-Jona in a Nationalliga A fixture. Meanwhile, the European champions have work to do if they are to retain their Champions League title. Sonia Bompastor’s side began their Champions League campaign with a 5-1 defeat to Arsenal, before playing out a 1-1 draw against Juventus and then thrashed Zurich 3-0 in November.
Zurich , on the other hand, were beaten 2-0 by Juventus in their opening match of the Champions League group stage, before Arsenal brushed them aside via a 3-1 scoreline. Another disappointing result followed two weeks ago against Lyon, leaving Zurich bottom of the group without a point to their name. While reaching the knockout rounds may prove to be a near-impossible task, Zurich will be aiming to pick up some points in their three remaining games.
