Luton Town fans have every reason to be optimistic about how the recent few weeks have gone for them. First, they defied the odds to secure an unlikely Premier League promotion. At the start of last season, not many would have backed Luton to secure a passage to the English top flight. However, after a hard-fought battle, Luton had defeated Coventry City in the Championship playoff final to secure the passage to the top division.

It was a big achievement for a side that not many backed to be playing in the Premier League. However, Luton Town outperformed expectations to be where they are currently. Having said that, it is not going to be easy in the English top flight. The challenges will be at a much higher level hence every player in the squad needs to step up massively. Not only that but they also need to invest smartly in the transfer window to have a squad capable of handling the demands of the top flight, which is exactly what they have done till now.

Luton Town have made some good business in the transfer window so far by getting the players they want as well as extending the contracts of some of their existing players. The latest player they got over the line is experienced goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski, who has made the move from Championship side Blackburn Rovers. The 30-year-old Belgian is the seventh new arrival at the club this summer.

After completing the move, Kaminski, quoted by the club’s website, said, “I’m delighted to be here and looking forward to the opportunity. The Premier League is the best league in the world, to play in the Premier League is a dream for every footballer and it’s unbelievable to be here. Knowing Luton’s story and playing against them, it’s a well organised team. You can see the togetherness on the pitch, I’ve spoke many times to Amari’i Bell who was my teammate at Blackburn and he called it home, so it gave me a great feeling about the club.”

Meanwhile, Luton Town manager Rob Edwards is happy with the transfer and feels Kaminski’s experience will be valuable for the newly promoted side. “It’s an area which is one of, if not the, most important areas on the pitch and a lot of work has been done to get the deal, and that goalkeeper position, over the line. He’s a great person and he’s a really good proactive goalkeeper, which at this level you’re going to need,” he elaborated.

“He’s sharp, he makes good saves and is alert in one-on-ones situations. Thomas not only brings us a really proactive level of goalkeeping but also he’s an international footballer with Belgium so he brings that level of experience too.”
