Liverpool’s busy transfer business could come to a halt with the window approaching the deadline day. For Liverpool, it has all been about their midfield. There has been a total revamp in the central areas following the departure of a host of midfielders. The noticeable ones to leave the club this summer is Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. However, the Reds have done well to invest heavily in the same department.

They have already signed Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo. The Reds are also reportedly linked with another midfielder in the form of Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich. Ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League contest against Aston Villa, manager Jurgen Klopp was asked to assess his side’s transfer business in this window. The manager, quoted by the club’s website, said in his pre-match press conference, “We pretty much have to reinvent the team. The midfield is now already and will be completely new.”

What Jurgen Klopp has made about their transfer business?

He added: “Over the last few years we had to do the same with our front line. The most stable area is obviously the last line but now not because of the injuries and the suspensions. And we had to do that in a season where we didn’t qualify for the Champions League, which has a massive impact, that’s how it is. I know people expected it to be different but it’s how it is. So I really think we did good business. The players we brought in are really good, will help the team, will even get better. And I think especially for Macca and Dom, everybody could see that already. For Endo, it’s a massive step, a massive change in the way he used to play and the way we play, so that obviously needs a bit of time to get there but it’s no problem.”

Klopp is pleased with the business that has been done and feels that the players are “full of desire.” “And so, I really like the team. When I look at it before we start the game and you look at the line-up and, yes, the options on the bench were in the last weeks now a bit young but even that is great. I think everybody loves it when Ben Doak is coming on and when he’s having his minutes in all these kind of games. Stefan is back in full training. So yes, we got younger, but we had to. We are lesser experienced but that’s normal. But we are full of desire. I love this team,” he elaborated.

The Liverpool manager also spoke about how Darwin Nunez’s double against Newcastle United last weekend can be a major confidence booster for him. “Massive, massive, that’s clear. That’s what he wants, what we want. It’s exactly how it should have been – being a massive threat. You could, of course, see it the next day. But everybody could feel it. This game was massive. And the way it happened, all these kind of things, it looked for a while for 10, 20 minutes like everything goes against us – not destiny, we had our hand in that. But how the boys fought out of that was pretty impressive. So now we should try to do that with 11 players,” he stated.
